Emergency Shelter Program

Women and Children's Horizons has served victims and child witnesses of domestic violence in the emergency safety shelter since 1976. The emergency shelter houses up to 25 - 35 women and children and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Victims and their children are able to stay in the shelter for 30 days to maintain their safety and begin living an abuse- free life. Each year the emergency shelter provides a safe haven for over 300 women and children, providing over 5,000 nights in shelter and 10,000 hot meals.

Women and Children's Horizons emergency shelter is a program. Throughout the victims stay, shelter advocates assist the victims in rebuilding their lives through support, education, goal and safety planning and daily living skills. Referrals to other community services providers may be given to ensure that the victim and family receive all the essential services needed. The goal of the emergency safety shelter is to assist   victims and child witnesses of domestic and sexual violence to remain safe and live self-sufficient lives.

Crisis lines are also available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Live advocates are available to assist you. If you or someone you know feels unsafe, please call and an advocate can assist you with safety planning.

The WCH 24 hour hotline is 1.800.853.3503.
